We are pleased to announce that Stockholm based Sara Rumar will open for The Genuine Fakes at The Southside Cavern gig on March 31.
Sara has released two albums; Stupid like me in 2006 and Why? Because. When? Now in 2007. In addition to that she recently released the single Stick To Diamonds that you can listen to on her MySpace-page or on Spotify.
spent the weekend with a dear friend listening to some old vinyls and drinking “Eau De Vie” (I’d call it swedish blue collar brandy).
we enjoyed the re-discovery of all sorts of music ranging from Leonard Cohen to David Johansen. even got a bit of Roxette and Billy Idol in there… on Saturday we also managed to pay a visit to the fabulous Monk’s Café for a bit of kriek, ale and stout. Thanx for visiting, Hank!

It was goooood! It is so nice to play a few songs and notice that we have actually never been better… We started rehearsing a new song – If You Then I – that we have never performed live and hopefully you will hear it soon at a venue near you or possibly on the upcoming album!
Johnny Fake was brilliant as usual and I think that if you watch our next few gigs you will notice quite a difference in his way to batter the drums – he’s doing something really cool now…

It was nice to see some old faces and some new ones at the Jack Rocks finals yesterday. We had a blast and did a very short, intense and energetic set before we sat down in the green room and sipped on our beers and chatted with fellow musicians and new fans. These cruises are a very, very strange phenomenon – it’s not like playing at just any other club, ’cause most of the people there are absolutely and completely hammered. For any non-Swedish people that are interested in anthropological studies – take a ferry cruise!
Anyhow, the event was really great and it was a good start to the new year as well as a little warm-up show for tomorrow’s big event up in Umeå. See you there!

We just got word that we’re going to play the Amplified festival in Umeå on Friday. This is our first show that far north in Sweden and we’re very psyched about getting to go there! We’ll be joining up with Johnossi, La Puma, I Are Droid and many other great bands. See you there!

Next week The Genuine Fakes are doing a few gigs in Uppsala and Gothenburg. A couple more are soon to be confirmed.
Last night the band got together and rehearsed again for the first time since mid June. It’s been a long time off, but now it’s time to get ready for the shows coming up this fall. Check out the calendar for new tour dates.
Also, a new mix of “When Reality Hits You” is now available on MySpace and Facebook. This fall is dedicated to getting the debut album done, so keep a look-out for more songs in the near future.
This Saturday The Genuine Fakes are making the video for “I Don’t Want It”. The band needs extras/audience so if you’re in town and you want to be in the video, check out the event on Facebook.
Furthermore, The Genuine Fakes joins Winston and The O-kult at ROQ in Stockholm later the same evening for a rawkin’ show. Check out the live calendar for more info.
