above: two members of the LO union, appearing in a swedish TV debate.
unsurprisingly, these gentlemen were very upset about the arbitrary approval of the AMF bonuses.

sure, we’ll leave the politics out of this blog, but I could NOT resist snapshooting their stasches.
these men are on a mission, much like The Genuine Fakes.

cheers blog readers!

Check it out!!

dear blog reader,
I’m really looking forward to some upcoming gigs in the near future!
to bad I can’t tell you more about it, cos one is yet to be comfirmed. latest news on that at the official Genuine Fakes site!

spent the weekend with a dear friend listening to some old vinyls and drinking “Eau De Vie” (I’d call it swedish blue collar brandy).
we enjoyed the re-discovery of all sorts of music ranging from Leonard Cohen to David Johansen. even got a bit of Roxette and Billy Idol in there… on Saturday we also managed to pay a visit to the fabulous Monk’s Café for a bit of kriek, ale and stout. Thanx for visiting, Hank!

also, reading the most recent post from Tommy Fake, I recognized the old Spinal Tap trio from yet another great mockumentary,
A Mighty Wind from 2003.

finally, here’s “Cypress Hill Lyric of the week”:
(WHEN THE SHIT GOES DOWN)

shit, I still stand tall
with tha hill clan, ya’ll
better stand back - niggaz ’bout ta fall
I’m comin’ out blastin’ like Yosemite Sam
get tha cheese n’ tha bread for tha ham…

OK, so there are a few albums that have really influenced me and my songwriting over the years, and shaped this band into what it is. As someone wise once said - we are all just a product of our influences.

The first album I’m going to recommend you try to track down is the one album that The Grays released in 1994 entitled Ro Sham Bo. I just recently came over it myself and hadn’t heard before last year. It’s the band that Jason Falkner formed after he left Jellyfish (which is another group I’ll be getting to in another issue), and it contains a number of great powerpop gems.

The opening track from the album, entitled “Very Best Years” is one of my favorite songs at the moment. A while ago I discovered that they’d made a music video for it, which you can check out here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtkgE4h_EKw

I would have embedded it but that feature has been disabled for this particular video for some reason.

Do yourselves a favor and check it out!

I found a somewhat new blog that I thought I should recommend…

A couple of months ago the blog Waiting Around To Die was started by Annika Norlin (a.k.a. Hello Saferide and Säkert!). The blog is titled after the song by Townes Van Zandt and contains various lyrics that span from tragic to feel-good!

If you like good lyrics the WATD-blog is definitely worth following which can be easily done via Google Friend Connect - the same type of forum that we use for The Genuine Fakes.

I have been browsing music sites and powerpop blogs all day to find some nice links to put in our blogroll for The Genuine Fakes and I think that I now have a nice line-up.

Some of the blogs that I found:

A few days ago we launched a new and improved version of the official TGF website. The new website is more “blog-based” and you will be able to follow both official TGF-news and unofficial TGF-member-gossip!

Joey, Morty, Johnny and Tommy are all blogging on their personal MySpace-blogs and the content of those is assembled on The Genuine Fakes’ website at thegenuinefakes.com. In addition to that tour dates, new music, new videos and much more will be posted.

Welcome to read even more about The Genuine Fakes on thegenuinefakes.com.

Tommy Fake / The Genuine Fakes

Hello fakers!

All of the band members now have their very own individual MySpace accounts. They would very much like to meet the fans in a more personal way than through this site, so head on over to them and say hi! They can be found in the top row of the top friends. This also means that all the Fakes will blog individually and share touring experiences and studio progress and so on and so forth with you.

Here are the links to the pages:

time to get this blog going!
last weekend I nailed the remaining bass tracks for TGF songs “Star”, “Blind Commitment”, “Whatever Comes Your Way” and “You Always Come Back Home”. the session was acutally set in the rehersal studio for practical reasons. It all went really well!

I’ll be staying in this weekend. resting, reading and most apparently blogging. as Joey went south (Småland) on friday we’ll pick up the studio work again on tuesday.
