Last night we rehearsed for the first time in a couple of weeks, it has been a while since the last time because we have been busy in the studio for the last month or so.

It was goooood! It is so nice to play a few songs and notice that we have actually never been better… We started rehearsing a new song - If You Then I - that we have never performed live and hopefully you will hear it soon at a venue near you or possibly on the upcoming album!

Johnny Fake was brilliant as usual and I think that if you watch our next few gigs you will notice quite a difference in his way to batter the drums - he’s doing something really cool now…

There are so many social networks out there - MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Hi5 etc etc…

So we thought that we should try to create our own community as well on the official website for The Genuine Fakes. You can meet other friends of The Genuine Fakes - from all social networks - and discuss music, mustaches or whatever. You can listen and compare music and will be the first to receive important news, you’ll get special offers on merchandise etc.

The best thing is that the setup is really easy!
You can use your existing account from Google, MSN or Yahoo!

I have been browsing music sites and powerpop blogs all day to find some nice links to put in our blogroll for The Genuine Fakes and I think that I now have a nice line-up.

Some of the blogs that I found:

For more blogs and sites on powerpop, see the blogroll…

in my last post I dropped a couple of songs worth checking out.
three of four are represented and available for download at:

THE MODPUNKPOP ARCHIVES
STOAT - “Office Girl”,
AGENTS - “Modern Girls”
STARJETS - “Any Danger Love”.

also, stay tuned for “Cypress Hill Lyric of the Week”.. coming soon!

I know that Elvis is far from powerpop but sometimes you have to tune in on some other music and what is better than the music of The King?!?

I found an old quote from The King that I think is worth posting here:

I don’t know anything about music. In my line you don’t have to.
- Elvis Presley (1935 - 1977) US singer, actor

There are more than 600 official Elvis Presley fan clubs, including some that were illegally formed in countries where it was forbidden, such as Pakistan and the former Soviet Union.

Check out this extremely cool Elvis-site or the official web site.

A few days ago we launched a new and improved version of the official TGF website. The new website is more “blog-based” and you will be able to follow both official TGF-news and unofficial TGF-member-gossip!

Joey, Morty, Johnny and Tommy are all blogging on their personal MySpace-blogs and the content of those is assembled on The Genuine Fakes’ website at thegenuinefakes.com. In addition to that tour dates, new music, new videos and much more will be posted.

Welcome to read even more about The Genuine Fakes on thegenuinefakes.com.

I recently re-discovered one of my favorite pop-bands - Stars on Mars. I haven’t listened to them since -95 but the other day I just felt the urge to Spotify them… I have only listened to the album Poster that was released in 1993 and I’m not even sure if they have released any more albums or if the band even exists any more. However, the Poster-album is freakin’ great!!

Stars on Mars - Poster

The story of Stars on Mars seems pretty cool. The rumour says that a three song demo was presented to ten record companies, delivered by a babe without appointment but riding a Harley bike. Six companies were interested… Then Micke Herrström produced their album and that is probably one of the main reasons why the album feels so genuinely cool - Micke has been known to produce excellent albums (e.g. Popsicle, The Wannadies, Ane Brun, Thunder Express and Moneybrother).

The songs all match well together but I most enjoy the tracks Marshall Man and Motorcycle Baby. The singers Sophie Eklöf and Helena Jonsson delivers perfect harmonies which closely resembles vocals from the powerpop genre. The overall feeling of the album is definitely a 4+ (on a scale from 1 to 5).

That’s right fakers! Just laid the last hand on 21 (!) tracks that we’ve been working on for the past two years. I’m mighty pleased with the result, gotta tell ya! Now all that’s left is to decide which of those will go on the debut album and which we’re going to save for the next one. Stay tuned!

Hello fakers!

All of the band members now have their very own individual MySpace accounts. They would very much like to meet the fans in a more personal way than through this site, so head on over to them and say hi! They can be found in the top row of the top friends. This also means that all the Fakes will blog individually and share touring experiences and studio progress and so on and so forth with you.
